Bangladesh is subject to recurring large or smaller scale disaster impacting the lives and development capacity of millions of people. In recent years UNDP has demonstrated its ability to contribute to the Government’s capacity for rapid response in emergencies. UNDP did so by capitalizing on its structural knowledge of the socio-economical situation, its far-reaching networks of Government Agencies, civil society and non-governmental organizations as well as within the Donor community. Based on this experience UNDP feels a new step should be taken to build on the lessons learned during operations
